This event lets children experience environmental education, art making and community engagement. The children in Magnolia Park see the impact of environmental issues on a daily basis, living in close proximity to the Houston Ship Channel where industrial cargo ships are a common sight. An environmental educator will help us meet age-appropriate learning objectives.
This project will make the world a little more beautiful by removing litter from the area near the bayou and by creating a sculpture with the found objects. By joining together for this project, we will create a meaningful experience that builds community bonds and will serve as a reminder every time the children visit or pass the area, that together, we worked to protect the environment. We also hope it will motivate them and the adults in the community to keep the area clean.
