Blazing hot!
You thought we meant the weather?!
The truth is, we've got a lot going on and we're pretty excited about it.
Magnolia Park Arts & Community just finished the school year with a friendly art contest among elementary schools in Magnolia Park. After finalists were determined by Facebook "likes" (we're talkin' hundreds!) HISD Wrap Around Specialist Angela Logan asked Artist Jesse Rodriguez aka Magnolia Grown to judge the top three.
All these budding artists were winners to us.
Thank you to Magnolia's Ice Cream & More for giving all ten finalists gift certificates. Thanks also to our donors for supporting this event with other prizes.
You can stroll through the virtual gallery here. We're looking forward to next year's contest and so are the children!
We also hosted a book parade at De Zavala Elementary school. Each student had the opportunity to pick two books to take home forever. They were overjoyed!
Thank you to our volunteers for enduring such a hot day to make sure children had books to read over the summer. And a big thank you to those of you who donated books and cash, for making this possible: Books Between Kids, Magnolia Grown, UH Clear Lake, Dr. Desdamona Rios, and many individuals. Every gift counts!
