MPAC Hispanic Heritage Gala! —Sponsorship Deadline July 30th!

Join me in supporting Magnolia Park Arts & Community (MPAC) at the hottest Hispanic Heritage Month event of the season—our gala on Friday, September 17, 2021. On behalf of our dedicated board of directors, advisors, and volunteers, I hope you'll help celebrate our inauguration by becoming a sponsor.

If you commit by Friday, July 30, you will receive recognition in our mailed invitations.

The underrepresentation of Hispanics in Houston has fueled my personal mission to promote Magnolia Park, Houston's oldest Latino neighborhood. As “Magnolia Grown”—my well-known persona and the voice of the Magnolia Park reawakening—I am dedicated to sharing positive messages of Chicano influences in our community. My work with my collaborator (and my cousin) Rich Rodriguez includes numerous community projects. Now with MPAC, it includes programs to help people in our community reach their full potential. Your support of our gala will help ensure these programs continue:

MPAC ABC: Art Builds Character STEAM-aligned youth enrichment program

Charlas de Arte and exhibits - culturally relevant art and dialogue to the community

Committed to the accurate retelling of history using art, I have worked with community activists, local leaders, respected art advocates like Cheech Marin, and other artists to promote and preserve our Chicano legacy. After hosting the first ever art gallery opening in Magnolia Park, we organized "Honoring the Masters: The Chicano Renaissance" featuring works by three of Houston's master artists Mario R. Gonzales, Daniel Lechón, and Leo Tanguma. Part of the Smithsonian's 2019 Latino Art Now! conference, this tribute allowed the artists to share their journey of Chicano enlightenment with local residents and visitors. Cheech Marin (pictured at left) attended our opening and has shown his support of our work by attending our local events.

Your tax-deductible contribution supports inclusive arts programs serving the people of Magnolia Park, a culturally rich but severely under-resourced community.

Please commit to your sponsorship by registering online here by Friday, July 30. That way, our invitations mailed to supporters throughout Houston and beyond will show your support and help us raise even more much-needed dollars for our work. It also reserves your seats at this event, as it promises to sell out.

We look forward to sharing exciting details about the event very soon! In the meantime, feel free to email or call with any questions at (713) 904-2668 or info@magnoliaparkarts.org.
