Alex Bregman hits a homerun in Magnolia Park

It may seem hard to believe that Astros 3rd baseman Alex Bregman hit a homerun in Magnolia Park.

But then, it also seems impossible that in February, snow and ice covered our streets and we lost electricity and water for days. But that's what happened.

During the Texas Freeze in February, we put the word out that families in Magnolia Park needed fresh drinking water. Bregman saw us on twitter, and a day later, a pallet of drinking water arrived for us to give away.

We received support from all over the country and local elected leaders came through, too. State Representative Christina Morales, State Senator Carol Alvarado, Congresswoman Silvia Garcia, and City Council Member Robert Gallegos all pitched in. Volunteers came to help--including LA Raza Student Alliance from Milby High School with Rene Gonzalez.

Hundreds of neighbors drove by to pick some up and we even made home deliveries.

This is what we can do when we work together. And this is what we will do at Magnolia Park Arts & Community.

You don't have to hit a homerun, but you can be on the team!

If you're on twitter or facebook, please share our posts with your contacts. You will find us on any other favorite social media channel. We play there, too! @MagParkArts

Thank you for being part of our team. Together, we are building an organization to celebrate and serve the people of Magnolia Park.

Let's hit it outta of the park!
